It is with great joy that we welcome Mr. Gordy and Mrs. Raquel from the United States to Mozambique. Their visit provides a valuable opportunity to experience firsthand the transformative work that AMU is carrying out in communities across the country.

As part of this week’s field visits, our first stop was the Sasso Project, an initiative that continues to create meaningful economic opportunities and improve livelihoods for local poultry farmers.
One of the highlights of the visit was meeting Mr. Celso da Roda, whose journey is a remarkable example of the project’s impact. Once a beneficiary of the Sasso Project, Mr. Celso embraced the opportunities and support provided through the initiative and transformed his life through e
ntrepreneurship.
Today, he imports Sasso chicks from Zimbabwe and has become the leading supplier to poultry farmers supported by the project. His success story demonstrates how strategic support, access to resources, and determination can empower individuals to build sustainable businesses and contribute to local economic growth.

Mr. Celso’s experience is more than a personal achievement. It reflects the broader vision of the Sasso Project: creating pathways for self-reliance, strengthening local value chains, and fostering community development.
As we continue our visits this week, we look forward to sharing more stories of resilience, innovation, and transformation. These stories remind us that when communities are given the right opportunities and support, they can achieve extraordinary results.
Together, we are witnessing how lives are being transformed, new entrepreneurs are emerging, and local development is gaining momentum across Mozambique.
