Today, Associação Mãos Unidas (AMU) joins the global Dorcas family in mourning the passing of Dirk Jan Groot, the founder of Dorcas Aid International.
His vision, compassion, and unwavering faith inspired a movement that has transformed countless lives around the world. In Mozambique, that legacy lives on. It is through Dorcas’ commitment to this country and its people that AMU was born as a strong, independent national organization, carrying forward the shared values of dignity, hope, and service.
We are deeply grateful for the foundation he laid and the lives he touched. As we continue serving vulnerable communities across Mozambique, we do so inspired by a legacy that reminds us that lasting change begins with compassion and faith put into action.
Our heartfelt condolences go to his family, the Dorcas leadership, staff, volunteers, partners, and all those whose lives were impacted by his remarkable journey.
